Now it's time to perform the song with our backing track.

I hope you've had fun learning these embellishments and that it makes sense to you how we use can them. They don't change the basic function of the chord. They only add a little bit of variation within it. Very often you'll be able to use these under the vocal phrases, but they're particularly great to use in between vocal phrases as a little fill as we call it. We explored this concept within three of the most common open chords, and I highly encourage you to try it out with some of the other chords you know. Try out some open strings or add an extra note with your pinkie or ring finger and see what happens.

I find this lesson and the previous to be - extremely difficult. I spent about 5 days on the last lesson and this, about 45 min per day and still issues changing chords easily/clean. Examples - changing chords on bar 5 to 6 bar 8 to 9and 11 to 12. I must pause to get my fingers properly positioned, my brain knows what I should do must getting my fingers on the proper strings/frets is the mission impossible that I find with many chords. I'm unable to play with the last or current video at full speed, I must use 0.75 and with this lesson at the noted speed my accuracy is about - 50/60 %. I can play myself with no video that I did many days but I still have a lot of pausing in between the notes bars.

Hey there - thanks so much for sharing your experience in learning to change chords! I know this stage can be very frustrating!! Just know that what you're going through is completely normal. Trust in the process - keep working on your chord changes at slow speeds, and practice consistently! It takes time to program your fingers and muscles to make the required movements quick and smooth. Keep at it!! You'll get it!!

I found this as hard as the right hand strumming for the arpeggios! It helped me a lot to focus on landing the finger on the lowest string for the chord changes from C >Dm>C and to just sit and practice the repetition.

Hey there - thanks so much for your suggestion! I think many students will appreciate your tip to help get this down. Repetition is indeed the key - just keep working on it - and you'll find it comes easier and easier!
