To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

i'm probably mistaken, but i think the actual song "Rising Force" is on Odyssey. far beyond the sun and black star are both on the album Rising Force.
as for becker. i've been working on Concerto and i can play a few licks off of Speed Metal Symphony but that's about it. i really have to work on my sweeping.

Just get Rising Force album and you won't regret it.
I played Serrana,Altitudes,Perpetual Burns and few stuff from cacophony ... Unfortunately there ain't much tabs for these available for these pieces , but figuring them out realy strengthen you as a guitarist.

well i seriously doubt that with my aural skills i could figure it out..i cant een figue out really simple beginner pieces by ear.. can any of u play good standing up? tot ell u the truth i cant play sh!t standing up but when i sit down it all comes to me

No, you can do it ... Self confidence will help you.
It usualy takes time , specialy if you're figuring out something for Becker or similar guitarists ... You come up with an idea , practice it up to tempo , compare with the record , you find you were wrong but you came closer ... And so on till you get it right.
Someday you'll be able to get it from the first attempt.

Your playability should be the same for both sitting & standing ... When standing you're even more free to move your self , your guitar , etc.
Perhaps you adjust your strap too low , I used to do so back in the old days (like James Hetfield , Slash , Jimi Page ,etc.) , but since I was into Vai,Malmsteen,Becker,etc. I had to raise the guitar a little bit up , I now wear it like Vai or a little lower.
There are no rules for strap adjustment with how tall you are , you just have to set it up so that your both hands are comfortably playing , specialy your fretting hand should be able to strech normaly and so.

no man i seriously doubt it..if i tried hard enough..i could probly do an easy song by ear but i have a lack of patience.. for standing up..i figured i probly had the strap to low..it just finding a postion where the guitar is not super high but low to were its uncomfortable..my picking hand is the prob when standing but thanx for the advice

That's normal , the lower the guitar the more comfortable is your picking hand and the harder on the fretting hand ... Try wearing the guitar like Steve Vai .

well i sorta am..it like i can play some tihngs fast and others not to fast..which do u guys like better...electric or classical guitar..i personally like the classical better because i find it easier to write my own stuff.. how long did it take u sly to become a shred head

I like both elec and classic guitars , I started up with classic , but now I'm more of an elec guy... The reason is that I feel the normal classic guitar is pretty limited , so there ain't much room for innovation.
And it doesn't take long to become a shredhead , you just fall in love with something and try to play it ... I'm usualy not in a rush , I have other things to do in life , so when I decide to play some realy tough solo , I learn it lick by lick, taking only one small lick a day , probably I practice it for a couple of more days to completely master it before going into the next one.
The best thing , after you learn a couple of realy tough pieces , normal stuff becomes a lot easier ... If you're a new memeber in a band that's going to cover some not played often metallica tunes and stuff that you haven't played before or have forgotten , you'll find yourself like learning a whole set by an overnight .
One thing I learned from my humble experience , push yourself beyond that thing you want to do ... Say you're gonna perform "Far Beyond the Sun" as a guitar solo break in the middle of a gig , you should try it at home with faster tempo even if you mess up a little , so that you can easily play it up to the right tempo without messing too much live.
And it doesn't take long to become a shredhead , you just fall in love with something and try to play it ... y do u say the classical is limited? i find it tat when you play classical nothing is left out..u dont need a bass guitar or drums..ur basically ur own orchestra..even though for electric guitar you dont need drums or bass..it just has this left out feeling without them.. how long has anybody whos been replyin to this thread been playing guitar..2 years for me

Acoustic guitars in general have limited tones you can only (SLIGHTLY) change the tone by changing the picking spot ... Also usualy no body uses more than 3 octaves in acoustic guitars , while in elec I use my full 4 octaves on the 24 frets.
With the distortion effect only , you've got a plenty of new techniques that evolved , like various types of harmonics (usualy only Natural Harmonics are played on acoustic) , tapping , pick scrapes , tremolo bar stuff , shredding arpeggios (sweeping) ,etc.
Not to mention other options available by other effects.
I don't mean to argue that elec is better than acoustic , I just mean that it's more versatile , and that's why I like it.

im not which one is better than the other..there both equal to me..i just prefer classical cuz i find it easier..but i think everybody changes in their like through out their time playing.for playing 2 ears and being able to play far beyond the sun..is that good progression or work harder?
