1 page overview of open 7th chords?

Hi There,

when started on guitar tricks i got a link to this Essential CHords For Beginners overview, which is great (shos the basic opne chrods, major and minor), is there a nice overview for the most important 7th opan chrods, like A7, D7, C7, G7 and so on too?

I'm not aware of any single chart with all of them. I will look into that! For now, the toolbox has a chord chord that you can use to find them.

I have this little handy dandy chord chart hanging on my wall and it shows the A7 with index finger barring strings E,A,and C# and middle fretting G note on the 1st E. They both sound different to me, but I like your version better since it's easier, but is the Chord chart wrong or is it some other version of an A7? Everything else is the same.

Appropos of nothing, I'm chiming in just to express my love for open 7th chords. They are my not-so-secret songwriting magic fairy dust. When used judiciously and strategticallly (and sparingly), they can elevate a song to a whole other level.

Good question! They are both just different voicings of the same chord. Both have the notes you need:

A (1st) - C# (maj3rd) - E (5th) - G (min7th)

So you get either:

|--2--(3)------|

|--0--(7)------|

|--2--(5)------|

|--0--(1)------|

|---------------|

Or

|--3--(7)------|

|--2--(3)------|

|--2--(1)------|

|--2--(5)------|

|--0--(1)------|

|---------------|
