Once you master this basic blues lick, it's time to make some music with it. Some guitar players just play "one lick after another", and that gets boring for themselves and for the people listening. The lick is just a starting point and from there on you have to be playful with it, so that's what we'll work on in this lesson.

I'll show you some simple variation you can apply to this basic lick, then we'll trade fours over the backing track: I'll play this lick for 4 bars, then back you up while you play with "the band".

I would like a tutorial on the chords beginning at 26 to the end. These do not seem to be the 1, 4 5 chords taught in the begging lessons (and other voicings). I think learning how to mix chords and notes would be of great value and more fun Thanks

Hello - thanks so much for your question! Indeed, the rhythm Anders is playing in this playalong is more advanced. I'll forward this to admin to see if it's possible to make a tutorial out of it. In the meantime, be sure to complete the final chapters of Blues Level 2, and Anders covers more advanced rhythm approaches. Also, check out the Blues Style page for additional lessons - the intermediate and advanced blues rhythm lessons might be of interest to you: https://www.guitartricks.com/styles/blues Hope this helps!

am working hard on memorizing blues patterns-do you agree with that?
Mike Olekshy 2 years ago

Hello - thanks for your question! Yes of course, memorize as many scale patterns as you can! It is also important to practice using the scale patterns in the context of playing licks and leads, so be sure to compliment your work with that as well!
