Scouping the mids can jkinda get rid of that. But rememebr if your soloing with the distortion up high you have to palm mute idle strings, basically only ever have one string ringing at once otherwise itll sounds dirty.

Scouping mids is a good thing and a bad thing, it depends on the guitar you have and what kind of sound your going for. Those who scoup out there mids are usually metal guitarists, cause that gives you that deep heavy sound especially with boosted highs and lows around 7-8. For a good soloing sound you definitely don't want to scoup your mids because it will unbalance the highs. When soloing the mids play a role of low-end on the high notes. A good place for your mids is around 5-7.
As for lows, you should set this to where you get the right amount of warmth. Too high and the sounds becomes cloudy, too low and the sound becomes to brittle.
Your mid/highs should be set just slightly above your mids. To high and you get that earaching sound, too low and you guitar has the life of a stick.
Highs are your clarity, but should be treaty carefully. Too much and your highs don't become more clear but less. Too little and the highs drowned out of the sound. Between 7-8 is a good place to start.
Personally I think gain sounds the best between 7-8.5. (-10 is just too much and you can't distinguish what your playing. Usually the foremost mistake a player makes, more distortion the better you sound. Absolutely not. Too much and you will just sound like a wall of fuzzy sounds.
Contour adds smoothness to your guitar, usually this will take away from clarity. But you may want more smoothness. Your call.
I would start with adjusting your mids and mid-high(lows and highs at low setting), cause thats where the tonal range of the guitar is at. Mess around with those until the lows of the guitar and the high notes of the guitar sound even. ANd you like the sound you have. Then mess with your lows to bring in alittle added warmth, and highs for clarity.

By scouping the mids I mean setting them at around 3 or 4, I have my bass on 9 treble at 6. At those settings with my marshall stack and gibson theres nothing better!!

It all depends on what u r tryin2 play...
for instance if i wanna play really heavy 'In Your Face' thrashy stuff i would turn gain all the way, and put Bass-10, Middle-0, Treble-7-10. And i usually scoop the mids when i play that...
But like i said ther r alot of other combinations so it all depends on wutever u all wanna play...
