Has anyone had this guitar, and have opinion of it?

I don't have it but I'm sure it's a smart purchase and a hell of a fine guitar. I have been comparison shopping for an EPI Les Paul so I've seen demos on YouTube and read glowing reviews. I'm pretty sure that model comes with a hard case too. I prefer ebony fret boards and it turns out the the top model in Epi's Les Paul line, the Matt Heafey signature model seems to be the only one with ebony but it has EMG pickup and every demo I happened to access on YouTube turned out to be guys playing Pentera-like noise that gives no hint of the guitar's capacity to do anything else. The '60 tribute has many demos of people playing in all pickup combinations. The pickups are true to form Gibson style if not actually Gibson.

As an owner of an Epiphone that was rated guitar of the year in polls in 2012, the ES 339 Ultra, which I bought new in 2014, I'm kinda in love with the tuner that is built into the bridge pickup bezel which also has leds to tell you what your current pickup configuration is. That feature is only now on the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra III which goes for about $750. But I'm a bit torn that I'd be buying something too close to what I already have. But if you haven't tried the LP Ultra with the nano-mag pickup in addition to the burst-buckers, check YouTube for any demos. I would recommend this model to someone who doesn't have a top end Epiphone first and the tributes a close second.

I haven't owned one, but from what I understand it's a pretty solid guitar. It actually comes with real Gibson pickups which is a huge plus. The hard case is also included.

I wouldn't be too shy about pulling the trigger on an Epiphone LP. They have a long track records of good quality instruments. You should be pretty happy with it.

I've had one for over a year now. Basically, what sold me on this particular instrument was the following:

The neck is comfortable. If I remember correctly, it's a "D" style that was prevalent during the time. The action is relatively fast, as comes from the factory and only had to make a minor adjustment to the neck to get the bend I was looking for.

The electronics are 1957 Burstbuckers (Gibson wound) and the they use high quality switches (silent) along with high quality caps. It makes a big difference when you plug it in (noise wise).

Here is what really sold me on the Epi. I went to the shop, that had both the 60's tribute, and the Gibson matching guitars. The Epi sang out up to 11 seconds on a hard strum, just like the Gibson. Did a blind test against both axes and the professional musician that was there with me could only tell the difference in sound once out of a dozens different tries between both. The EPI is also heavy (mine is a bit over 10 lbs) just like the Gibson. Use a strap.

The Gibson tested was just under $6K, while the epi was $600 and the case was included. Dropped the plastic right there and I have been happy with it ever since.

I will say this - If you plan to gig professionally - spend the $6K to get the Gibson, as it will last longer and hold up better in hard use.

I have one I bought a year ago. Superb guitar, fast becoming my go to guitar.
I have a Gibson SG standard and Fender Telecaster to choose from and play a lot but every time I pick up the epi 60 tribute it just feels so right.
Great quality and sound and beautiful finish!

You guys have bought them, if you had a choice between spending 550.00 for an Epi Standard Plus Pro Les Paul, or 900.00 for the Gibson Les Paul 60's Tribute, which would you buy?

Hi all,

I believe this guitar is a super buy for the money. It has everything but a whammy bar for the money. It performs very good in everything from clean to Hi gain. The sustain is awesome. I'm extremely pleased.

I'd take the EPI for $550. Same guitar and save at least $350. Gibson cases extra where I have been shopping.
