Yeh, mine are the same. If you want really good tone get a planet waves cable too.

Due to my squier's fairly crap bass output, and my amp's similar problem, I have my bass set to about 8 and my treble set to about 7, my mids set to about 7.5.

when i use the clean channel, i have the highs set to 8, mids at 5, lows at 3. but some clean channels, including mine, are a little too powerful to play at loud volumes, so i often use my overdrive channel, turn the drive down to like 2 or 3, really low, and bring up the volume. there's no noticible distortion, so it sounds like a clean channel, and because the signal goes through the drive channel, it adds a bit of natural compression so the volumes are balanced whether you play in the low or high registers at really high volumes.

I find myself using my OD-3 Overdrive pedal simply as a tone pedal more than a distorion pedal. I often have the drive right down, with the level cranked up, so that I control tone and overdrive levels by using the volume control on my guitar much more effectively than going through the amp alone; it really allows you to get a "cranked" sound at lower volumes. I am a big fan of powerful mid-range frequencies, I guess I am a jazz man at heart; I love the tone of archtops, and as I only have a squier strat, I work quite a bit on my tone, lol!
