I've liked the Takamine's I've played. My dad had a nice Takamine 12 string. I'm kinda hoping to find one myself someday.

Actually, James Hetfield is Jesus's acoustic is pretty good, and from the other Takamine acoustics I've seen, I can honestly say that they make damn good guitars (acoustic anyway).

How many times did I say "acoustic" in there?

When I was first shopping for my first acoustic, I played alot of different companies guitars and the Takamines were always great sounding and playing.
I ended up buying the Tak G-330-S. A great solid topped guitar for around $300.

Some times the cheap ones are the really cool ones. Of course, you don't want a really cheap one as your main instrument. Those are for leaving in the crapper or for weird sounds they make. My brother has an old harmony/Sears/really cheap guitar, probably from the 60's; he has it tuned something along the lines of F, F, F, C, C, F (low to high). So with "Martin" writen on athletic tape and stuck to the headstock this guitar basicly functions as a beater/ oddity. It could be cool to use on an album or something for a weird little piece. But you DEFINATELY DON'T want that as your main instrument... or a backup for that matter.
