Rhythm and Blues is a genre known for its smooth grooves, soulful melodies, and infectious rhythms. In this tutorial, we'll explore some fundamental techniques and concepts that will help you develop a strong foundation of rhythm guitar in an R&B style. We'll go deeper with some textbook R&B rhythm approaches such as single note lines, creating motifs that use sliding as well as hammer-ons and pull-offs, chord progressions with a III chord modulation, and embellishments using sixths. Finally, we'll finish up with a practice song that combines everything we've learned.
