Now that you have some basic experience with whole notes and half notes, let's throw the quarter notes into the mix. First we're going to grab our A minor chord. Then we'll do two whole notes. Then we'll do the switch to our C major chord and do two half notes, followed by 4 quarter notes.

So in the first bar we play the chord once. Next bar we do that again. Then for C major we play the chord twice. In the last bar we strum it 4 times on each count. We'll repeat that one more time and then we'll end on an A minor chord that we let ring.

Now let's try this together. I'll do the usual one-bar count-in and then we'll start the example. Feel free to just watch and listen before you start playing along, if you prefer.

why does the Chapter 2 have a rhythmic lesson using a C major chord when you didn't even show us how to reach those frets. I find it almost impossible to even reach the three fret. you should at least show a visual on how to position your hand. very frustrating. I had to go to a number of other youtube videos for help. I would think this site would be all I need.

Hey there - thanks so much for your question! The chords were introduced in Chapter 1. I would double back and make sure you worked through all the lessons in Chapter 1 before attempting Chapter 2. Hope this helps!

In which lesson was the c string taught?

Hello - thanks so much for your question! There is no 'c' string on a standard tuned guitar. The C chord was covered back in Chapter 1 with this lesson: https://www.guitartricks.com/lesson/31267
