10 inch Eminence Lead / Rhythm Guitar Replacement Speaker- American – Eminence Speaker, LLC
These are currently on sale for $116; they're normally $145. I bought a pair of them for less than $250 from Sweetwater. Sweetwater: Musical Instruments, Pro Audio, Accessories & More
Pros:
- The range is from 80 Hz to 5,000 Hz, perfect for a guitar.
- They react immediately to picking — snappy, tight, articulate, and punchy.
- Both speakers checked out at 8.1 ohms on my multimeter. The manufacturer claims they can be as low as 7.1, so maybe I hit the lottery.
- The cone is strong and durable.
- They're surprisingly loud at around 100 dB each for only 75 watts.
Cons:
- The terminals have pretty large holes. Even after sanding and tinning, I had a hard time soldering the ~18‑gauge wires in my 2010 Line 6.
- You must be soft with the master knob, or you'll rattle the windows.
- Slight cracking sounds if the guitar volume is maxed. Could be my guitar, though.
Tone:
They’re American‑voiced, yet when distorted, they still produce that Overkill‑style aggression through my Line 6. Think Scorched or The Grinding Wheel. They don’t sound anything like Judas Priest or Iron Maiden. If anything, the overall character leans more towards a Pantera punch.
They remind me of a lighter, lower‑wattage EV12L/Celestion hybrid. Same attitude, less air pushed in the house (diameter and depth matter). Clean tones ring true and are very responsive to input. They sound great on both bridge and neck pickups. It’s safe to say the stock speakers in the amp were holding it back.
EQ Note:
After installing them, I actually had to lower the bass and mids on the amp. These speakers are naturally tighter and clearer than the stock ones, so they don’t need as much EQ to stay punchy. Once I adjusted for that, the tone opened up immediately.
Frequency character:
- Lows: tight
- Mids: clean
- Highs: crisp
These speakers completely transformed my old Line 6. Suddenly, the amp has that American metal grind you’d never expect from a 2010 solid‑state combo. Honestly, it’s closer to the punch you hear on Pantera’s Vulgar Display of Power.
Thanks for reading, and be safe.
