So, I’ve been listening to “Just Ain’t Easy” a lot the last few months. Interested in playing along with this one, but there’s one part of the song I can’t work out what’s being done.

Near the end as Dicky is doing his thing, I think Dan Toler is playing some kind of odd sounding walk up. Those of you who know the song likely know what I’m talking about.

Anyone ever cover this song and can explain how this is played or what he’s doing to complement Dickey’s soloing?

Thanks.

That part you're referring to is actually a harmonized riff with two guitars playing. The lower harmony would be played like this (excuse the pseudo-tab):

E----------------------------------------------------------

B----------------------------------------------------------

G-------------------------------------------7------7--9---

D----------4--5--4--5--7--5--7--9--7--9------9---------

A-7--5--7-------------------------------------------------

E----------------------------------------------------------

The higher harmony is up a fourth. Hope that helps.
