Hi,
I’m going to have to respectfully contradict what you’ve written, and I’ll provide evidence to support it. I’ve included a few images, at the very bottom of this post there are a couple of of paragraphs that you should have a look at.
When I joined Guitar Tricks, I was on my PC and created my account by selecting the option shown in the red circle in the image below. For reference, the sign‑up page is located at the following URL.
https://www.guitartricks.com/register

There are no problems logging into the site on my PC, when I log in i select the option circled in red in the image below.

However when i atempt to log into the app on my Android Tablet of phone, I get the follwing screen.
I select "LOGIN" and now have the following screen.
You may have already spotted the problem, there is no option to

The app only allows login with an email and password, which I can’t use because my GuitarTricks account was created through “Sign Up with Google,” not with a standalone email‑and‑password login.

Attempting to sign with my gmail address and google password does not work.
I first reported this in July last year, and others have experienced the same issue. What’s concerning is that, despite acknowledging my post at the time, there doesn’t seem to have been any attempt to reproduce the problem or verify it with a test Google account. The assumption that it was either a tempoary issue with the app or potentially user error meant the underlying issue was not only never addressed, but GuitarTricks still remain unaware of the issue.
The Android app does not support “Log in with Google” for users who originally chose “Sign Up with Google.” This isn’t a temporary glitch—it’s a design limitation that prevents affected users from using the app at all.
I appreciate the offer to move this to email, but it’s important that this discussion remains public so new users understand that signing up with Google currently prevents them from using the Android app. This limitation has been known since last July but still hasn’t been resolved.
Under the circumstances, taking all of the above into consideration........................why would I take out another subscription? What can you do to potentiall change my view?
Thanks for the detailed explanation and for sharing the screenshots — that helps clarify what you’re seeing.
Just to clear up one point: the login issue I was referring to earlier is not the same as what you’re describing here. We were not aware of an issue with “Log in with Google” specifically on the Android app, as this hadn’t been reported to us before.
That said, there is a quick workaround if you’d like to continue using the app. We can reset your account password so you can bypass Google sign-in and log in using your email address and a standard password instead. Once that’s done, you should be able to log into the Android app without any issues.
If you’d like us to do that for you, please reach out to us at the email mentioned previously and we’ll take care of it right away.
We completely understand your hesitation about renewing given this experience. If you decide to give it another try, we’re happy to help make sure everything is working smoothly for you going forward — and if not, we appreciate you taking the time to share the feedback here, as it’s genuinely helpful.
