hello all,

Since a short while, I'm using Guitar Pro 8.

I wrote the notes of a song (Gloria) in the program and saved it.

Then, I wanted to export the file to a pdf, but unless other songs/files this one failes to do so. The program does not give a message of a failure and the directory opens where it should be found, but it is nowhere to see. Searching with Finder it indeed seems nowhere on my Mac.

Hope anyone has some suggestions.

Kind regards,

Kees Kooiman

Hi there,

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue specific to exporting your "Gloria" file in Guitar Pro 8. Here are a few suggestions that might help resolve the problem:

  1. Check Export Settings: Ensure that the export settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, an issue in the settings (like an unsupported font or page size) can cause export failures.

  2. Test with Other Files: Try creating a new, simple file in Guitar Pro 8 and exporting it as a PDF. If this works, the issue may be specific to the "Gloria" file.

  3. File Location: After exporting, double-check the exact directory where the PDF is supposed to be saved. You might also want to use the Finder to search for files modified recently, in case it saved to an unexpected location.

  4. File Name Issues: Ensure there are no special characters in the file name or file path that might interfere with the export process.

  5. Permissions: Verify that Guitar Pro 8 has the necessary permissions to write files to the directory. On macOS, you can check this in "System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Files and Folders."

  6. Software Update: Make sure you have the latest version of Guitar Pro 8 installed. Updates often fix bugs, including export issues.

  7. Export Alternatives: If the problem persists, you could try exporting the file as a MusicXML or MIDI, then importing it into another program that supports PDF export (e.g., MuseScore).

  8. Contact Support: If none of the above work, consider reaching out to Guitar Pro's support team. Provide them with details about your file and system to help them troubleshoot the issue.

I hope one of these suggestions helps! Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the detailed answer. I’m having the same problem. By the way, for working with PDF files on a Mac, I liked a tool I found in a review https://www.hrfuture.net/talent-management/training-development/create-pdf-document-with-extreme-ease-with-pdf-guru/ that described its features and advantages. On top of that, it’s quite easy to use, which is the most important thing. I used to rely on the built-in Mac editor, but it turned out to be quite limited in functionality.
