Hey all!

I'm new to guitar tricks and I'm new to the guitar! I'm interested in learning fingerstyle and noticed that this site has multiple fingerstyle courses in the guitar style section.

My question is what do you guys think is the best route to take in learning fingerstyle? Can I dive straight into the fingerstyle sections or should I learn chords/theory first? My goal is to be able to follow along with fingerstyle tabs I find elsewhere on the internet/youtube.

I currently have a Cordoba C5 and I'd like to play acoustic fingerstyle on it. Thanks!

Hi there,

If you're new to the guitar, I definitely recommend following through the Guitar Fundamentals Level 1 and Level 2 course here: https://www.guitartricks.com/beginner.php

The fundamentals course will teach you core techniques that every guitar player will need to learn and this will help you immensely when you learn finger style techniques down the road.

After you finish Fundamentals level 1 and level 2, I suggest going through Acoustic Level 1 and 2, which will teach you how to fingerstyle, specifically Travis picking and hybrid picking.
