Hi Tim, welcome and thanks for the question!!

Any adjustments you need to make with your fingering at this stage is encouraged!! I say do whatever you need to do to make the chords ring out and the changes more smooth. Once you have more playing experience and mobility around the fretboard, you'll find it easier and easier to use different fingerings that better suit any musical situation.
