ELECTRIC GUITAR FOR BEGINNERS

Hi,

So, I have finished fundamentals I and II and I want to buy an eletric guitar. I would like to know what brands should I been looking for, since there are so many options.

[br]I would like to start with a good guitar. I know just a little bit about it, because I play acoustic, so I need some help to find a good one.

Could you help me, please?

If you watch You Tube and search for "best beginner guitar," you will find that there are countless options for you available. Which guitar is "best" FOR YOU depends on (1) your budget (how much money you want to spend) and in part of (2) what kind of music you want to play. I personally would rather buy a gently used "better" guitar than a crappy new one.

So there is your answer. Once you told us if you can spend $150, $250, $500, or more and what your favorite music is, we can be more specific.

Hey & welcome to GT. Congratulations on finishing the Fundamentals courses!

I'm pretty much a beginner as well at least to electrics and ended up buying an Epiphone Les Paul Plus Top Pro for around 600 bucks and I'm extremely happy with it. On the other hand, I bought my daughter who is 8 a Squier Strat (3/4 size) and we're very happy with that as well. Lots of good options out there!

Thank you guys for all the answers! I'll try to find one that fits best for me. I think I am going to choose the Yamaha Pacifica 112V ($250/$300). It is not expensive and it seems to be a good one to start (I saw some youtube videos about it). I'll go to some stores to try this one and some others.

About the styles of music, I like pop, blues, r&b.. the cozy and calm songs (John Mayer and Mateus Asato - he is Brazilian and a huge inspiration, are my favorites guitarists at the moment.

Those are good guitars! They combine the best of many guitars: Fender (contoured body, vibrato, single coils) & Gibson (bridge humbucker pickup for rock). Yes, please do try before you buy.

The 112V's foremost strength is its versatility, abetted by the fact that it's comfortable and affordable with suprisingly impressive tone and quite hot output from its OEM alnico V G&B pickups when called upon to deliver, with an Alder body and Rosewood fretboard all for so little money.

And this is just great. I like his style of playing too.

The V has selectable split coil function on its humbucker which mightn't seem important initially, but will later for additional tonal versatility. Select the (bridge) humbucker, dial up some Crunch or OD on your amp and let your inner Tony Iommi rip with the "Paranoid" riff, or split the coil, press the footswitch on your ACTone pedal and feel the 60's British Vox vibe chime. Alternatively, plug into a Fender amp, select the Clean channel, pull coil split, mid selector position on the Pacifica and dial in some Beach Boys Fenderish tones with a quasi-single now at the bridge.
