I've played guitar mostly my whole life, but most of it without much creative punch or growth - until about 10 years ago, I switched to electric. It's not that electric is any better (because it isn't) but the transition and the advent of the web conspired to push me to be better and that's something.

I live on a farm near Chapel Hill NC (home of the Tarheels), and don't like it when people that don't try at anything find so many critical things of others who do try.

Hi Lewis,

I'm happy you're continuing to learn guitar on electric. I started on electric and then eventually picked up an acoustic guitar and that was a challenge, but fun!

I've never been to Chapel Hill but I'm a fan of the Tarheels, I'm a fan of guitar, and I'm happy you're keeping up with the things you love.

As always, thanks for being part of Guitar Tricks and let us know if you have any questions!

Go for it, Lewis! At the core, they are just envious of your courage and vision. Music is meant to give you joy, and if it does so, then have at it! Ain’t nothing wrong with that!
