MOST DIFFICULT SONG?

i think little wing isnt that bad. that classical stuff looks hard, but i think red house is pretty hard.

hmmm tricky, there are some tracks that give me problems, but I'd have to say some of metallica's riffs, disposable heroes is a good example, are just so fast. I think anything that's highly polyrhythmic gives me the most hassle because on my own, it doesnt sound too bad, but playing along to future breed machine by meshuggah it can sound so sloppy if you mess up, in fact almost anything from the 'destroy erase improve' album is a nightmare, they use time signatures like 5/19 and other weirdness, and they switch times like nobody's business, if you make a mistake playing along with those guys it stands out really badly. So I would say as opposed to lightning fast chops, I would say tight enough to turn coal to diamonds rhythm playing is my greatest fear (And I pride myself on my speedy wrist, hell I'm a death metaller, it comes with the territory)

nirvana? what the hell??!? hendrix? lots of soul but not too hard, right? i hope. i dont know what some of you people are drinking but... alright whatever.

heres my opinion....
1. serrana by jason becker -- look for the powertab, this song is as amazing as it is insanely difficult. 95% of it is sweeping, going at a breakneck speed.
2. limp bizkit - n2gether now --- too many arpeggios, and runs up and down the harmonic minor, crazy stuff

The most challenging pieces are IMHO on the classical guitar - especially in modern classical music. Some of those tunes are inhumanly difficult to play at just half of the original speed or accuracy. Like Leo Brouwer "Danza Characteristica", William Walton "5 Bagatelles", Christobal Halffter "Codex I" etc.. also Bach´s "Chiaconna" and the "grande Sonata" are a real fingerbreaker.. give them a try and it will also boost yer electricguitar skills

I think that the hardest song that i have ever tried to play is the solo for Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne, the rest of the song is pretty easy though.

Hell yeah! The song that got me into guitar playing! I can remember I used to struggle for years with that solo. I bought a Doug Marks (Ithink that's his name) instructional video. He tought crazy train, over the mountain, and flying high again (Wich I learned all of them :-) It had the audio tab at the end of the video wich I just copied to cassette tape and learned it that way. That video was a godsend. I can copy that instructional video for anyone that has any other instructional videos by Steve Morse, michael angelo, or Micheal fath.

Also for trade (Copies, I keep the original) I have
George Lynch, Paul gilbert, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Tony Macalpine, Frank Gambale, Vinnie Moore, And Billy Sheehan instructional videos.

P.S. The micheal angelo one Is number one on my list but the others I want just as much :-)

i think "the dance of eternety" by Dream Theater is the most difficult i have ever tried. I also make alot of songs myself that i still are having trubles with. mabye i will post some of it in the guitartricks section.

I have to say I agree with the metallica rhythm stuff...that's a skill all its own...I think that kind of thing prepares one for soloing, with strange wrist and forearm techniques, that is...the sustained thrashing is the hardest, some metalica songs are a real workout in the rhythm department...

I thinik (for a band) most difficult song would be Dream theater´s Dance Of Eternity. Change Of Seasons would be pretty hard to play sice it´s about 23 min. long.

The hardest song I've played is (part of) that "horse with no name" song.

I've been playing for almost exactly one week.

heh. . . hopefully I can work up to some harder songs with a little work over the next few weeks!

EDIT: Change that to "House of the Rising Sun" - I did pretty well with that one last night... that one will help me work on chord transitions a LOT

the most difficult song i can play is "altitudes" by jason becker it's pretty hard has bad ass sweeps tapping just full out shredding and i love it! muahahahahaha

Dance of Eternity is pretty tough also, but I don't play that. Yet.

probaly hardest stuff i think to play is stuff by Gary Moore. kind of a blues rock feel with difficult bends and very fast in parts and its difficult to get the feel. i find it harder although it is slower than playing Eugienes trick bag (the amazing arpeggios from the film crossroads)this uses very big stretches and you have to run up and down the strings very fast but i still find it harder to get the feel for playing Gary Moore stuff.

Hey have none of you heard Steve Morse`s Tumeni Notes...I would say that`s one of the most "handkilling" songs on earth..Because Steve is playing alternate picking through the whole song...It`s easy to play with sweeping...but almost impossible to play with alternate..I`ve been playing it for almost a year now and I´m not even close to Steve`s speed..:(

a lot of the shredding songs are ovbiously thharset songs due to their speed, and metallicas 'Blackened' riff took my a little while to get the hang of. but for me the hardest songs are classical songs. i'm currently learning Violin Prelude by J.S. Bach , and trying to get fingerpicking wrapped up, as that is real difficullt for me, so i'll need to practice more on that.

if you do feel that the fastest songs are the hardest, then i suppose some of Michael Angelo's shreds would be extremely difficult to play.

Hot for teacher is not that hard, just the tapping intro part is a little tricky. I've got to go with Eruption being the tougher one here....

That is a tough one, on a seven string at that......Soooo many changes, but then again, it's Dream Theater. Another tough one I learned at one time is Metropolis Pt. 1.

A Change of seasons is tough b/c of the length, but thing of it as 4 songs, about 5 minutes each. It made it easier for me to learn one section at a time...
