Is it okay to leave the guitar with a hardcase in the trunk ? Doesnt seem like a good idea with that heat and humidity in the trunk even though it is in a hardcase.... :confused:

Hi All, Newbie and Beginner here. I recently purchased a new guitar with hardcase and plan to take it with me to work so that I can go directly to the instructor's studio after work for my weekly lesson.
Is it okay to leave the guitar with a hardcase in the trunk ? Doesnt seem like a good idea with that heat and humidity in the trunk even though it is in a hardcase.... :confused:

never a good idea to leave an instrument in a car for an extended period, you can probably get away with it if your car isnt in the sun, but do you want to.

You have the right idea. Just because it's in the case doesn't mean its not going to get hot in there.

I don't disagree - it isn't a great idea.
However, I used to take a squire strat in the car with me and leave it in the trunk all the time - just in case I wanted a guitar. I didn't have any trouble in the UK climate - heat in summer and cold in winter... although humidity levels are relatively stable.
It depends what kind of guitar it is, and how upset you'd be if the neck warped...

I would never leave my guitar in my car and certainly not in the trunk for a long period of time. The extreme heat or cold and going from one extreme temperature or humidity to another will damage the guitar finish. It can crack the wood and warp the neck. It may not bother a solid body electric as much as an acoustic. I take my guitar to work with me almost every day. Some of the guys and I jam during our lunch break, but I always bring my guitar into work with me. I never leave it in the car. There must be some where in the building that you can safely store your guitar while you are working.
If I want to make a stop at a store on the way home from work, I take my guitar home first or take it in the store with me. I take my guitar into Guitar Center and check it at the counter. I take it in the barber shop, drug store, etc. Never leave it in your car!
Do what you want, but I'm sure your guitar instructor will tell you the same.
