lol so true, never looked at it that way.

Rappers grab their crotches for the same reason dogs lick their nuts... because they can... It has been legitimised by their genre of 'music'.

Playing with the good stuff in public is not socailly acceptible, so they're just having as much fun as they can in their pants without getting arrested...

You are the man.

As for what gogogo said, I see a lot of the "gangstas" with cheap jewlery and fake diamonds.

And Rusty..lmao! In my vending class earlier in the year, a kid came in dressed like your description. Since the tables are setup to one big U he decided to jump on top of the table to get on the other side. As he jumped up his pants fell down and that was the funniest thing I ever saw. I asked why his pants were so low and he said, "Because." I just shook (SP?) my head and kept laughing.
"During this line, the kid acted like he was pushing buttons on a calculator in the air. The kid played ******* air-calculator!"

Oh and guess what. Crotch-grabbing comes from Michael Jackson. Does Michael Jackson rap? Yea thats what I thought. I am so Disapointed.

Rock stars bang their heads to the beat of the music... if rappers grabbed their crothes to the beat of the music it would be borderline masterbation... I understand it's culture... and it's obviously a culture that I want no part of...

As for the Emo singers slitting their wrists... well... that's more of a serious psychological defect... and if rappers grabbing their crotches is considered a psychological defect other than egotism... then... you have a point otherwise... the only point made was... that "it's culture man". Which is fine... We're just trying to understand what it represents. Does it represent masterbation? does it represent the egotistical psychological defects of rappers?? No, I'm sure it doesn't... I'm curious what it's connotation really is...

I really think they're just holding their pants up....

Ya...he has to go through the trouble of sampling someone's music.

And for the record, i could tolerate people liking rap, just not 'gansta' rap. I just think the level of misogyny is an embarassment to the human race, I'm fine with swearing but going "We don't give a f***" over and over again is ridiculous. Swearing for the sake of swearing is ridiculous. And I don't know about you people, but I kinda cringe every time i hear the n word, and white people driving around blasting it in their cars through town not realizing that all black people appreciate the word is beyond ignorant.

There's rap I listen too. Bone thugs, Tupac, Ice Cube. It's not ALL money and women and guns. The stuff on mtv is. Why? I don't know the kids by up that **** I guess but there are some rappers who actually have something to say. Rap is by far not the best form expression out there but some credit is due to the ones who try to help thier community.

While I agree that swearing for the sake of swearing is ridiculous, sometimes it's the very best way to get what you're trying to say across. I mean, say you really don't give a f***. I think saying it over and over again makes a lot more sense than saying "I really can't be bothered to show enthusiasm on said matter."

[QUOTE=ericthecableguy]And I don't know about you people, but I kinda cringe every time i hear the n word, and white people driving around blasting it in their cars through town not realizing that all black people appreciate the word is beyond ignorant.

This may sound insensitive, but it's no more than a silly sound. Get over it, everyone.

Don't get me wrong, the slavery of black people is without a doubt one of the biggest mistakes humanity has ever made. No one should have ever had to go through that. And I understand that it's still a very sensitive issue. But really, a spoken word is no more than a sound. I find it ridiculous that one sound can be considered more offensive than another. I also find it insensitive when people blare music that uses that word, but I wish people would stop being so sensitive about (what I consider to be) trivialities.

The only rap I actually will sit and listen to is Handsome Boy Modeling school, and that has regular vocals in it as well.
Rap is good for dancing, and thats about it. If I heard some stuff with more meaningful lyrics, I could sit down and listen to it.
I have no idea about the cratch grabbing thing, I just think its funny.
I don't say the n word, just because I try not to cus in general. If someone else says it I don't really care, its just an animal noise in the end. I don't understand the whole concept of black people calling each other that word which is meant to be degrading. I'd like to know how that whole cultural change came about.

Some rap I do like--which I feel has a vocal/musical quality and shows thought is put into the songs to make them "songs".

DMX
Black Eyed Peas
Outkast
Eminem
Beastie Boys
Run DMC

Evry thing else sounds the same to me. But I am sure the same thing can be said for ALL types of Music (I feel the same way about country music I only like a handful of artists)
