no more tears

i decided i would try and learn "no more tears" by ozzy osborne but i dont understand the tunning :confused: it says

dropped D tunning, 1/2 step down
6= Db 3=Gb
5=Ab 2=Bb
4=Db 1=Eb

what does this mean, and can i do it with just a cheap tunner ?

hey bro,

drop tuning blows to learn, you prolly need a digital tuner to do it..... you may also be able to do it with a keyboard or sumthing.

But have fun learning ozzy stuff, fun classics

All it means in this case is to tune the whole guitar down by a 1/2 step. Then tune the E string down another half step. You probably won't even need a tuner..just do it by ear.
Otherwise, most tuners these days have the ability to drop tune. (at least Korg tuners do anyways).

btw: 'Drop D' tuning is usually meant as just tuning the bottom E string down to a D and leaving the rest of the guitar tuned normally.
It's usually used so you can get a nice bass note on open D chords.

the easiest way to do this is have your guitar tuned to standard (EADGBe). now as u have to tune down a step and a half. now a half step 1 fret to the next, and a whole step is 2 frets. 1 and a 1/2 s simply 3 frets. so from the 5th fret go down 3 frets and tune your A string to that note. once it's in tune, tune the 5th fret of the A string to the D till the D string sounds like the note of the A. continue this but when u get to the G string tune the Bstring to the note of the 4th fret of the G. hope i didn't confuse u.

do you have this tuner: http://www.zzounds.com/item--KORGA30 ? well this is probably the most popular tuner out there, and so I'm asking cause this would probably be the tuner that the guy at the guitar shop tried to sell you when you bought your first guitar. if you do have this tuner or any other tuner that has that button that says 'flat' just push it one time and tune strings 1-5 then push it 2 more times (for a total of 3) and tune your 6th string to that. if you don't have a tuner that has a 'flat' button then you should consider buying one, otherwise it becomes a confusing process to tune and you have to use the method that the guy posted above me said.
