Is there anywhere that I can find Gilmours pedal board? or a list of his pedals?

There was just an article about David in Vintage Guitar magazine, about 2 months ago, listed his gear.

Check out these links:

Interview with Mr, Gilmour

Another interview

I once had a link to a site that had a full list of his gear with detailed descriptions and what effects for what song, but 15 mins. of Googling just now didn't turn it up. If I find it again, I'll post it here.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Just listened to a few Floyd Albums (it's been about a year), and I'm taking back my comments about Mr. Gilmour; He is definitely a top 5 player.

Hummmm, ever hear EVH trying to play the blues, its dreadful.

For my 2c, I think DG does a fine job at doing what he does. He is not a lot of things, but well, I think we can forgive him that. I listen to the bends in Time and wow!

I'm starting to go into a few unexplored regions (for me) of guitar; I've been brought up as a jazz musician, so typically i play alot of notes; not really a shredder, just alot of chromatics, etc; I'm starting to listen to Clapton more, and Gilmour as well, and finding that the more "clear, direct vision" as i call it, that they have, in many cases beats the hell out of jazz. The best musicians on this earth are jazz musicians, i'm still sticking to that comment, but i'd say that the most listenable musicians are those like Clapton and Gilmour;

Clapton and Gilmour get some nice tones on those strats; I'm considering scrapping the entire custom guitar idea for a few years, changing my p/u's, and having a mid-range boost pot added to my guitar (Gibson Les Paul Double Cutaway). Alot of options, I have.

Hey IH, have you thought about buying an old knackered guitar from a pawn shop for peanuts (like 50 bucks) and doing it up? I figure as long as the neck, neck housing and body are OK, you are set to go. Even better, if you can find an old dog (minus its electrics or similar) the resale value will have plummeted. I turned down a gutted Jackson 6 months ago going for a song and I have regretted it ever since.

That way you don’t alter the resale value of the DC and you get to have fun customizing and hot rodding the old knackered one a la Dr Frankenstein. If it turns out to be a disaster you still have Mr DC and if it is a blooming erupting success, well you are on to a winner!

c'mon guys!
Check out Larry Carltons cd "Last Nite" on the MCA label and then get back to me about how good a player David is. Larrys' got all the expressiveness and emotion in his playing that David has but blows him away with creativity. Like Inc. said, "it's not hard to solo over a Pink Floyd song".

Larry recorded the cd last nite live at the Baked Potato in L.A. to fulfill his record deal w/MCA before moving on to GRP ( a move that cost him a lot of credibility). This is definitely Larry at his finest, and the band is as relaxed as ever and just tearing it up having a good time. The cd ended up winning a Grammy for Best Jazz Album of the year (well deserved, even though labeling this album Jazz is a bit stretching it). If there's one cd that should be in every guitar players collection this is it. The only thing you will be disapointed in is how medi-ocre David G. sounds after listening to this cd.;)

Haha-
Yeah, i'd have to agree with you there; I have this superstition about modding guitars myself (or taking a stock guitar and modding it), mostly because it's hard to find a guitar with an ebony fingerboard, with the bridge style I want, etc.

I have too many things on the guitar that I know what i want, if that makes sense; The accessories are changing a bit, but the main parts are still the same, though.

As far as the best musicians part, yeah i can see your point Pony; to me though, jazz musicians are the ones that do that for me. they make me say "wow, how did he think of that?" Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian, a small percentage of George Benson, Allen Holdsworth, Jerry Garcia, all make me say "Wow, that sounds nice!".

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Dave Gilmoour, Eric Clapton, some Jimmy Page, some Hendrix, etc, make me think the same.

You could say that i have multiple musical personalities (much like the fact that i have multiple online chat personalities. Sorry about that, by the way).

Get this: The Eagles are playing in Madison in a few weeks or w/e, seat price? $120 bucks. I think that's a bit steep, myself. What do you guys think?

That's about $170 Canadian - which, with some careful shopping, would buy a copy of every CD they've ever released! :p

$120? Woa that's expensive....that's like £70 to me....i'd probably pay that to see Rush but not many other bands could get that from my wallet.
