Yeah...Zooms do make mediocre effects...I think that Boss gt3 rocks and my personal favourite is the digitech RP7 or their expression series effects ( they have one moderater, reverberator etc...the only problem with thes is they have only certain types of effects on each unit...but if you buy three different ones, you have almost all the effects you could want. )

Also try out the Boss Me33 which has an amp modelar and all.
I must say...Avoid ZooM. again Avoid Zoom.
