To be fair, I didn't know there was something called MIDI Controllers. That's why I just went with the resources available.

I can strongly recommend trying out Ableton. I don't know if there's a free trial version available, but the Fender Edition I use only comes with the Mustang Amps. I don't know what the Mustang I costs, but it is essentially the same as my Mustang II, just in a 10W amp with smaller speaker. As Thorfinn suggested, it might be most economical to buy the Mustang I for Ableton, since that way you get a practice amp and a good Audio Interface for about 20$ (assuming Ableton costs 100$ and the amp costs 120$ as Thorfinn said). I can't really see many better bundles for starting a small demo-recording studio :)
