Kdenlive is a great free program that will do about everything the commercial ones do. In my search for a video editing software program it is the one I landed on.

There is a new kid on the block that really looks great called Olive. I am not saying it is better or Kdenlive is better. I'm just saying if the OP is looking both are candidates to consider.
