I get the intervals, but where a chord has more than one 3 note, is it always sufficient to make a sus4 chord by substituting a 4 note for either of the 3 notes, or is there some other rule, like you must substitute for the higher pitched 3 note?

For example, I am in GF2 and I just did the lesson on sus4 chords. The Gsus4 is created from a G chord by placing the index finger on the first fret of the B string, thus substituting a C (4th note), for the B (3rd note). But the G chord also has a B note at the second fret of the A String. So, is there a rule for which one must be substituted for?
