But, as for the dark stuff... Yeah, Cave fits the description...By far the best from all I have seen mentioned here. At least in my humble opinion. Dunno why, but I kind of like that song of his called O"malleys bar... Now, that is dark. As for the lyrics part; songs I play when I am in a sad mood...

some ****eater played that damn song at my high school graduation; it was like his one true moment of guitar fame, becuase he obsesses over green day almost exclusively. luckily his song died with my senior year, and he'll probably end up joining the navy once he realizes his pop punk cover band isnt cutting it anymore.

Ha, yes. I never did understand that mentality-playing sad songs at graduation. It such an emo thing to do. IT like "You already feel s**tty for having to leave all your friends, therefor we will play a song to make you feel thrice as worse." Geez.

Pat Metheny has a very good version of this classic. It has a very sad yet romantic feel. It is very playable and allows you to improvise and come up with your own replacement solos if needed, ehem.. where needed. Its on the "Across the Missouri Sky" recording..

Staind's music has come full circle, but Everything Changes is one of their new songs that's terribly depressing and very easy to play. Waste is an old song about a fan that killed himself and how pissed off Aaron is about it.

If you want to listen to some depressing Staind songs.... Download (or purchase) their debut independantly released album by the title of "Tormented"..... That's some dark stuff... One of the more depressing songs is "4 Walls" I think that's what it's called... either way... it has "4 walls" in the title... It's either "Same 4 Walls" or something... But it's an awesome song... The whole album showcases lyrics that seem to flirt with suicidal tendencies... so... yeah.
Not too much into their new stuff though... I commend Aaron on the way he has seemed to play out his life story through his lyrics and songs... But... it's hard to keep a strong fan base when your music goes from the likes of Tormented... to their newest stuff on Chapter V. Either way... if you're a fan... check out Tormented.
I don't know if you just want some depressing songs to listen to or to play... but you can click my link for some of my recordings in my signature and have a listen to "So Long".... that's about as depressing as I get when I write songs...

u cna totally improvise on a A minor triad on the last 3 strings..the thin ones...start from the bottom most one then go down( up acutally) then jsut do what you want there and move whatever shap u create to 7 then to 2...it makes u cry..ill try getting that tab
