I despise Floyd Roses and am wary of dropping a brick of cash on a Kahler (both the thing itself and installation). At the same time, at least you can go up and down and up and down just by jerking it one way or the other.
I would buy a Whammy Pedal so that I could do dive bombs without the disadvantages of a locking trem. Would a good set up be a Fender-style trem, like on a Strat (up only) together with a dive bomb whammy pedal? Or would I just be better off bending the notes with my left hand to go "up" so as to retain the advantages of a hardtail or stringthrough bridge? Sustain and tone are very important to me... and Floyd Rose trems bleed both to death.
