Slipknot is dropped B, if I remember right. As for amp settings just get it as muddy as you can, bang on the strings with your car keys, and go "BLUAGHHH!" into the mike.

I would guess something like bass:8 mids:3 treble:4 through any generic "modern gain" effect.
