Why do open position chords sound so messy with distortion?
It's because they have the thirds in them.
If you want it to sound cleaner, like AC/DC, leave out those thirds with a simple muting trick!
- G Chord — Mute the A string with your middle finger
- D Chord — Mute the high E string with your ring finger
- A Chord — Mute the C# string with your index finger
These are now essentially BIG power chords with fifths and octaves — which are much cleaner.
